A popular Safeway store in San Jose is closing, and for some customers, it’s the end of an era.
A sign posted outside the Safeway store on Bollinger Road in the Orchard Farms Shopping Center says the store will shut its doors on Nov. 13.
Some neighbors say they’ve been shopping here for decades and will miss more than just the convenience.
“I sent them a message, I hope they renew it, because these are lifetime memories here. Raised 2 of my daughters, oldest is 48,” San Jose resident Shayesteh Ahmed said.
Others say the closure will leave a gap especially for people who shop off-hours.
The Chronicle reports Safeway has closed stores in San Francisco, Pinole, Vallejo and Hayward over the past two years.
NBC Bay Area reached out to Safeway’s parent company, Albertsons, about the closure but has not heard back.
